Our Corporate Accounts professionals work on preparing financial statements, conducting audit and assurance checks and preparing various compliance reports including the Annual report.

Pricing

An employee working in the department of pricing works on decision making related to pricing of petroleum and related products as well as pricing of free trade products in the portfolio of HPCL. This holds a special significance since the pricing of such products is of national importance.

Treasury

If the organization is the body and money is the blood, then treasury is the heart of the body, and working here, our employees get an opportunity to contribute towards cash flow management, arrangement of short term and long-term funds, managing the foreign exchange as well as the Insurance and Banking area under HPCL.

Audit

Our auditors ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation. Not only are they responsible to complete audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings but they also appraise the adequacy of internal control systems by completing audit questionnaires.

Risk Management

Great emphasis is given to Enterprise Risk management as well as Oil Price Risk management by this team. By identifying key control deficiencies and assessing its magnitude of impact, they evaluate how the risk management program is progressing.

Budget & MIS

Employees working in the Budget and MIS profile are responsible for Investor relationship management as well as creating the MIS reports and presentations to the board. It also includes revenue budgeting, working on Margin Validation and maintaining the database which keeps track of the business metrics.

Tax

Our Tax department handles both Direct and Indirect Taxation and engages Officers in Tax planning, monitoring compliance to various State and Central Tax laws as well as litigation management where need be.

Embedded Commercial Functions

With each Strategic Business Units that we have like Refineries, LPG, Retail etc. our Finance Officers get embedded and involved in various roles right from decision making committee member, tax planning, pricing, Project management, working capital monitoring, general accounting including profitability statements.

Legal

HPCL provides a platform for legal professionals to work in various facets of law. The Legal Department plays a pivotal role in enabling HPCL to navigate through various challenges in the industry. Our law officers are groomed to think, act and interact in ways that underline our organisation’s philosophy, system and culture. Every law officer is given varied exposure and numerous opportunities for growth in a culture of continuous learning and capacity enhancement.

Broadly, our officers are involved in:

• Developing legal strategies for successfully resolving disputes, issues and cases keeping in view the policy guidelines of the Corporation.
• Providing legal opinion to various functions within the Corporation.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements and documents with respect to the business of the Corporation.
• Drafting, vetting and finalising pleadings, petitions, applications etc. to be filed before various adjudicating authorities.
• Representing the Corporation in mediations, arbitrations and other alternative dispute resolution bodies.
• Briefing advocates and senior counsels appearing on behalf of the Corporation.
• Training and sensitising officers in other departments on legal aspects.

The Human Resources team enable people performance for us. They are dedicated to helping our employees realize their full potential. Employees are the most valuable workforce and the HR team assists in creating a culture that attract, retains, develops and inspires best talent.

Capability Building

This team endeavors to create value to the business by enhancing competencies and building capabilities of employees and to enable performance through a committed and competent talent and leadership pipeline. The department focuses on holistic capability building which meets business imperatives along with employee aspirations for current as well as future requirements. Capability Building Department strives to deliver enriching and engaging learning experiences leveraging scientific learning methodologies, experienced subject matter experts as well as latest technology. The learning programs are offered in various modes which include instructor led or experiential classroom programs, virtual/ augmented reality/ gamification/ simulations, mobile/ video based/ game based learning, MOOCs/ Blended/ Flipped learning programs, academic and research databases like EBSCO and also through Online Learning Management System. Further, Capability Building team collaborates with various premier institutions and other Centers of Excellence Institutions for providing world class learning opportunities to employees.

Industrial Relations Department is responsible for establishing Systems/Policy & Procedures related to Employees/Workmen throughout the Organization. Apart from ensuring legal compliances, Officers of Department also play pivotal role in ensuring that disputes are resolved at early stage.

HR Business Partners

HRBP is a representative of the HR function to dedicated internal stakeholders like Refineries, Zones and other Business Units. They lead all HR process for the internal stakeholders. They proactively steer change management projects, identify problem areas, consult with line management, resolve employee grievances, provide HR policy guidance and engage employees. Not only do they manage the non-executive recruitment but also look at contract labour engagement, statutory compliances, employee engagement and learnings.

HRIS

This team is responsible for the support and maintenance of our HR systems. They are charged with processing employee data, generating HR-related reports, managing system upgrades, and maintaining data integrity.

Performance Management

As an organization, we lay large amount of emphasis on managing the performance of our people and placing the right person for the right job. Our PMS Team ensures setting up of goals in line with the balance score card methodology. Ensuring that goals and targets are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner is the responsibility of this department. The employees are also given a chance to put stretched targets to display their ability to go out of way and deliver extraordinary. Every year the employees who have been shown consistent performance are promoted and given higher responsibility based on their target record/potential. Engineering

Majority of our engineers work in disciplines that include mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, and instrumentation engineering, among others. Engineering, at HPCL is a broad field, there are many engineering jobs across all business units and departments. Broadly, they can be classified as:

Project Engineer:

Whether is it a LPG plant, Refinery, Terminal or a pipeline, our project engineers bridge the boundaries between engineering and project management. They identify the project elements, completion stages and lead the workmen at the site to achieve project objectives. Through procurements, inspections, monitoring and supervision of activities, they ensure safety & quality work at sites.

Operations Engineer:

By following regulatory-based best practices and by use of an in-house optimized logistic assistant tool our Operations Engineers ensure timely supplies of products to our customers. They oversee operational systems, processes, and infrastructure at our state of the art facilities like Refinery, LPG, Aviation, Terminals, Depots etc. Not only do they look for opportunities of improvement they tracks operational and tactical risks and provide strategic solutions.

Maintenance Engineer:

If you like to trouble shoot problems and fix things and have got the engineering mindset, you might want to consider a career as a Maintenance Engineer. Our machinery, equipment and critical systems operate on 24 X 7 basis. Our engineers are required to provide quality service in a timely manner to any issues which arise within our various facilities. Our Maintenance Engineers work in Refineries, LPG Plants, Projects, Aviation, Operations & Distribution business units and oversee numerous automation facilities using some of the best maintenance management practices in the Industry

Safety Engineer:

For a Safety Officer in a perilous industry, it is essential to identify any unsafe and hazardous condition, conduct site inspections, night inspections, mock drills, safety logs reporting, audit visits & compliance and risk analysis. Thus, our Safety Officers are required to meet necessary qualification and fitness norms.

Industrial Engineer:

To maximize efficiency, our Industrial engineers scientifically study the processes at all our location. Through business process reengineering practices, they identify synergies and develop norms for predicting optimum manpower, modelling process flows and designing organisation structure.

Procurement Engineer:

In order to accomplish the primary goal of procuring technical equipment for industrial operations, our Procurement Engineers develop, implement and drive cost-effective procurement strategies. They understand business needs, manage suppliers, negotiate prices and award contracts.

Sales

Sales Officer plays the pivotal role in marketing of petroleum products to a wide range of B2C and B2B customers. With the objective of customer value maximization, a sales officer understands customers stated and latent needs and meets them with exceptional products and services with the support and management of HPCL’s channel partners. Sales officer is also responsible for maintaining the Brand value and identity of the Corporation

Marketing

Marketing officer gathers market intelligence and designs promotional campaigns to compete and grow in the market. HPCL has a strong loyalty program for retail customers that is analysed and managed by the Marketing officer to effectively improve sales and maximize customer acquisition and retention. They explore the market to identify potential allied businesses and complementary services that can be added to HPCL’s product/service portfolio to enhance customer experience. As the brand guardians, they maintain brand integrity across while implementing Corporations marketing initiatives and communication

Be part of our prestigious HP Green R&D Centre, which is the epicenter in shaping the energy dimension of future. With more than 20 research labs focusing on different dimensions of energy research from refining, lubricants, petrochemicals & catalysis to alternate energy areas such as Battery, Biofuels, Solar and advanced research areas such as Nanotechnology, Corrosion, Analytical, Process Modelling and Simulation, the Centre provides a plethora of opportunities for applied research.

Undertaking challenging research projects

Researchers undertake challenging and exciting research projects on technologies / solutions / products to address the challenges in existing and future energy domains. The key focus is on development of innovative & sustainable solutions, alternate energy, indigenization of technologies and products, process & energy intensification and low-cost solutions.

Building new Research facilities

Researchers shall also be involved in team building and setting-up new facilities for accelerated research. With already existing world class labs, HPGRDC facilitates researchers to procure / build cutting edge research equipment, analytical instruments, pilot plants to carry out steadfast research.

Providing solutions to Refineries and other business functions

An R&D researcher will also be extensively involved in supporting the existing business functions of the organization by providing technical solutions, Technologies and products to improve the daily operations and mitigate the existing challenges. The researchers will also be involved in field troubleshooting at all operating locations of HPCL.

National and International Research collaborations

HPGRDC being a reputed global research institutes undertake a number of global collaborative projects. Researchers are expected to undertake and lead these collaborative projects with global academic institutes and industrial research centers.

Quality

HPCL Quality Control Dept. have set up 48 laboratories covering all the major states of our country. These labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, well-trained manpower and certifications/accreditations in the field of chemical testing. The testing includes various tests such as Distillation, Kinematic Viscosity, Density etc. All Laboratories follow IS/ASTM/ISO Test methods. These labs are supporting various SBUs like Retail, Aviation, SOD, Lubes, Direct Sales, Pipeline etc. We go beyond testing, inspecting and certifying products; we help customers to improve their performance for which we have equipped some of the labs at strategic locations to facilitate testing of samples from industrial customers for optimum use of our products.

39 Labs are accredited with National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). We are also having two Calibration Laboratories exclusively for calibrating petroleum testing equipment such as Hydrometer, Thermometer and Viscometers used extensively in our field locations.
